Loving care for pets with behavioral & medical needs

My experience with animals with special needs includes fostering pets with a wide range of medical and behavioral issues, volunteering in the medical wings of two animal shelters (one past, one present), and over ten years of pet walking/sitting for pets with a range of concerns. In addition, I’ve adopted pets of my own with issues such as reactivity, cancer, blindness, and kidney disease.

For pets living with illness and disability, I work with you to develop a daily care routine for your pet including medications, special diets, and whatever other support they may need while you’re away. As I care for your pet, I work to get a feel for their unique daily rhythm so I can identify when they may be feeling unwell as soon as possible. I’ll stay in close contact with you while you’re away, so you won’t be left wondering about their symptoms.

When working with anxious, fearful, and reactive pets, I aim to strike a balance between hope for progress and unconditional acceptance. My focus is on helping animals move toward calmness—free of judgment—understanding that anxiety or fear-driven behaviors aren’t enjoyable for them either. I believe anxious and reactive pets need time and space to build trust on their own terms, and I’m comfortable sticking around for as long as that takes, staying closely attuned the whole time.
